Our Vision & Mission
Our Vision
To nurture a highly competent, successful learning community, where tolerance and respect, responsibly contributes to a future global society.
Our Mission
To help meet our vision, the learning community at WSD follows the competency framework of the 7Cs curriculum:
- Curiosity – Learners are able to engage in and take responsibility for their learning. They actively seek answers to the bigger questions of ‘how’ and ‘why’ to quench their thirst for knowledge. Enquiry skills are a strength and learners are able to complete independent research both with and without the use of technology.
- Creativity – Learners are able to break away from convention as they explore ideas attributed to their unique way of thinking. All are innovative and resourceful in their approach and are not afraid to take calculated risks. They are able to think outside the box, whilst still maintaining any design brief.
- Consciousness – Learners are able to demonstrate strong social awareness and possess the ability to make moral judgements that inform decision making. The learning community are culturally aware and emotionally intelligent, showing appreciation and tolerance of the views of others, even when they differ from their own.
- Collaboration – Learners are able to effectively work with others, whether in pairs or as part of a larger team. They collaborate in a positive respectful manner that results in productive outcomes.
- Critical thinking – Learners are able to apply classroom-based learning to real world context and make connections across areas of learning. They analyse results to form sound judgements, as well as evaluate their work in order to identify possible improvements. Plans to achieve their goals are well thought out.
- Communication – Learners are able to communicate effectively with peers and the community alike. They use a wide range of interactive learning strategies, including roleplay, peer teaching and presentations. In addition to being able to clearly express themselves, explain their work and articulate their ideas, all learners are also active listeners.
- Confidence – Learners are able to take risks in their learning while maintaining firm belief in their ability. They grasp opportunities to make decisions, take responsibility and lead wherever possible. The learning community thrives on challenge and has the mindset to keep going, even when it is tough.

Please share full details of any special educational needs, individual education plans (IEPs) and any Educational Psychologist, Pediatric, or other specialist reports (e.g., Speech and Language or Occupational Therapy) if completed. Sharing educational history with GEMS Winchester School Dubai prior to a place being offered is essential so that staff can ensure an appropriate assessment of educational need, educational plan and resourcing is in place. Admission is not conditional on the submission of medical diagnosis and we have effective transition processes in place for all children.
Students are not refused admission based only on their experience of a special education need or disability (SEND) and we give sibling priority for admission to students who experience SEND. Staff follow KHDA guidance and procedures for scenarios where, very rarely, it may not be in the best interests of the child to be placed in GEMS Winchester School Dubai. This information will be shared with the KHDA, following expected procedures.
Assessment Tests
Our assessment tests are carried out by our trained education team. Our team works with students to make sure that our curriculum meets each child’s needs and abilities. As an international school, we do not discriminate based on nationality, ethnicity, gender or any other quantifying personal characteristic.
Doing well in an assessment test does not guarantee a placement in the school. Places are offered based on assessment test performance, former school reports and availability of places.
We have an allocated number of places available for students with additional needs. Please inform us of your child’s requirements when making your application so your child’s assessment test can be fitted to their needs.
Preference
Preference will be given to siblings of students currently enrolled in GEMS Winchester School.

Payment of Fees
The Application Fee is payable at the time of the online registration and is charged to process the application of new students. Once the child receives a formal offer from the school, the registration deposit is charged to enrol the child and secure the seat.
If new students enrol at a school during the course of the academic year, the school can charge tuition fees starting from the beginning of the month of enrolment.
Schools can collect annual tuition fees in three installments, due at the beginning of each term. The first term’s payment will be 40%, the second 30% and the third term 30% of annual tuition fees.
Cash, cheque and credit card are accepted, and payment can be made in person at the school accounts office. In addition, payments of fees and tuition can also be paid online or by wire transfer directly to the school bank account. (Provided upon request)
Non-payment of Fees
Students may not be permitted to appear for the school examination if their fees are not paid. Failure to pay school fees may result in a loss of the student’s place in the school, withholding of their school reports, references, and/or examination results, as well as temporary or permanent expulsion or exclusion from school.
Refunds
1. In the cases of both existing and new students, the registration and re-registration deposit will not be refunded unless there are extenuating circumstances. These circumstances include but are not limited to relocation to another country/Emirate or any other unforeseen circumstances.
